Back to School

Some final reminders about your summer homework:

Everything should be ready to turn in at the beginning of class on Tuesday, September 6th. Remember: your work should be handwritten and legible. If you have everything ready to turn in, on time, you will receive 10% extra credit on the assignment. Late work will lose 10% of the overall score for every day it is not turned in.

Be sure that all of your journal entries are labeled clearly so that you can receive credit.

Make sure your twenty (20) definitions follow the correct format. They should include the word, the page number, the sentence it came from, its part of speech, and its definition. Definitions should look like this:

IRREVOCABLE (page 17) “Outdoors was the end of something, an irrevocable, physical fact, defining

and complementing our metaphysical condition.” Adjective. Impossible to alter; unchangeable.

Also - we're going to spend the first week of class discussing "Of Mice and Men." Make sure you bring a copy of the novel with you to class.

Finally, know that I appreciate all your hard work over the summer! I know that it's no one's idea of a fun way to spend their vacation time, but rest assured that if you did this work, it's going to go a long way toward setting you up for success in the class. Consider it practice, training really, for AP Lit and Comp! Just try not to get frustrated:
